Innovating in housing for older people, South Australia
In early March 2017 we were fortunate to facilitate a process as part of an instrumental 90 Day Change project: Innovation in Social Housing for Older People.
The 90 Day Innovation in Social Housing Project with Office for the Ageing (OFTA) and Renewal SA, older Housing SA tenants are being asked how housing and precinct design can respond to their needs as they age, enabling designed-for-purpose living that can cater to diverse support, care and lifestyle needs.
With OFTA, we bought together Housing SA tenants (who were absolutely lovely) and facilitated a forum between them and ‘Industry’ – architects, designers, town planners and government to describe what homes and precincts which suit older people’s needs might look like. We were supported by 6 Housing SA “Community Conversationalists” – retired professionals who are learning new skills in facilitation. This team was incredible – our thanks to Akhter, Richard, Anne, Ted, Rose and Irene! You can work with us anytime! The report which tenants and industry co-wrote will be released soon.
